To Granna

Come, as first morning light
Shine, as bright midday sun
Gleam, twilight – dusk – evening star

You, there in first light
Warmth that overcomes
As body awakens
There in cool dew
Kissing each leaf and blade

Songs, trees’ music, birds
River sings songs older than man
Telling of ancient ones
Heralding the shining ones
Speaking of the mighty ones

Shining face, warmth, heat
Of sun, of water
Healing all it touches
Bone to bone, sinew, muscle, flesh
Mind and heart, body, spirit, soul

Come, as first stars at night
Shine, as stream of Night’s lights
Gleam, as Sun’s first rays.
